Why Support Lifeline?

Lifeline is Australia's leading 24-hour suicide prevention service, and since COVID-19, the number of calls we receive each day is consistently over 3000 - this is an increase of 24% from 2019.

  • Every day, 9 people die by suicide

  • Every day around another 178 people attempt suicide

  • Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australian's aged between 15 to 44 years.  These lives are lost at their most productive.

  • In the next 12 months it is anticipated that 1 million calls will be received nationally on Lifeline’s 13 11 14, which is why we need to fundraise now more than ever.


Somewhere in Australia, there is a new call to Lifeline, every 30 seconds. People call about many things, but every call has one thing in common: it is a cry for help.  Lifeline services operate 24 hours a day.  By supporting Lifeline you are supporting a community service that operates when many other services are closed, when people in crisis have nowhere else to turn.


What many people do not know is that Lifeline also provides a range of face-to-face crisis support services that support people in our community in immediate crisis.  All of Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury’s (H2H) clinical and community services are provided by highly trained professionals, and are able to be accessed free of charge by people who might otherwise fall through the cracks, or simply not ever receive the support that they desperately need.
